This is strategic consideration as to whether a detailed risk assessment is required, based on generic data available for large geographical areas. This initial assessment will take about 48 hours to complete, is affordable for any business and could be used to comply with the legal requirement imposed by the Management of H&S at Work Regulations (1999) to complete a risk assessment for UXO hazards.
This thorough, site specific analysis will include a detailed assessment of:
Only appropriate risk mitigation measures will be recommended.
Unlike UXO clearance companies, we do not subsidise the cost of our risk assessments through excessive risk mitigation measures.
An increasing number of our clients are dissatisfied with the recommendations made by other UXO risk consultants. If you would like an independent critique/second opinion of an existing detailed UXO risk assessment, we will complete a review, which could eliminate the the requirement for unjustified risk mitigation measures. We are particularly successful doing this in non-military locations that have been subject to WW2 bombing.
We will only charge a fee, if we reduce the recommended mitigation.
We can provide advice and support during the tender and pre-contract period, also whilst groundworks are in progress, including:
If your site is in an area that was subject to extensive bombing (eg London, Merseyside, Southampton, Bristol, Exeter, Coventry, Hull, Sheffield, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Cardiff, Swansea & Belfast) or was used by the military (airfields, training areas & munitions factories), it is likely that a detailed risk assessment will be required. Please do phone us to discuss your requirements, as the omission of the preliminary assessment will avoid unnecessary expense.
If you are unsure of your site's wartime or military history, we can complete an initial risk assessment and provide robust advice on whether further investigations are required.
If you have been provided with a detailed UXO risk assessment from another company, we will complete an independent and impartial critique/peer review of their work, and advise whether their recommendations are appropriate. We will complete a thorough review of the assessment made by other UXO specialists, which is usually the basis for recommending expensive risk mitigation works.
